BABEL have been accused of ‘performing the Canute like miracle of making folk rock that’s actually good’. Guilty, probably, but BABEL fill golden blue folkscapes with tales of honey dripping sorrow, murderous ballads and paens to comedowns, love, loss and boredom. With their debut extended player out in early May, and plenty of high profile performances under their belts, expect a beguiling mash up of all kinds of folk, shot through with Saharan strings, Indian ragas and broken hearted country.
