Octobrianafest (open Source Comics Jam)
-
Mon 25 October 2010 // 20:00
(Mon 25th / 8pm / £4/3)
In the spirit of Octobriana, the Cube is hosting Octobrianafest to celebrate Octobrianas’ unique charm, the joy of open source characters and self publishing. You can have a go at the Octobriana drawing workshop or cardboard comic jam and gather in corners to plot... all sound tracked by dissident sounds from PPP DJs.
Octobriana the myth: created by subversive PPP in Soviet Russia. Her provocative and absurd adventures featuring in Samizdat magazines. The truth: Octobriana started as Amazona. The PPP & Mystri are hoaxes to appeal to cold war paranoia and Octobriana herself has no provenance. She can be used by anyone and artists including Bryan Talbot have used her in their comics.
There will be a slide show performance of the Octobriana story ‘The living sphinx of the Kamchatka radioactive volcano 1934.’ Plus a late night film surprise.
