The Forest Cafe, Edinburgh Introduces The Golden Hour

Fri 21 May 2010 // 19:30

(Fri 21st / 7.30 pm / £4 advance, £5 door)

The Golden Hour literary cabaret has sold-out gigs in Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, London and The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It is poetry and prose, original, eclectic songs and visual amazement. It is physical and mental. It is a reading. It is a gig. It is a party. Featuring The Paper Cinema, The Scottish Poetry Library's Reader in Residence, DJs, Drinks and a gaggle of talent in words and song.

Our People:

Readers / Writers:
Ryan Van Winkle – poems & stories from the Reader in Residence at the Scottish Poetry Library.
Ericka Duffy – Southern (Ontario) Gothic fiction & Poetry
Jason Morton – Shouts from the bar room floor.
Jane Flett – winner of the Scottish Book Trust New Writer’s Award and seamstress of many fetching stories

Music / Song Writers:
Billy Liar – starter of many a folk-punk riot
Hailey Beavis – an angelic voice, but devilish on six strings
Jed Milroy – bouncin’ bluegrass from the banjo balladeer

Visual Amazement:

Paper Cinema and Kora -
A cast of hand-drawn marionettes are magically brought to life. This is what happens at the accidental meeting of inkblots, photocopies, cardboard, angle-poise lamps, the occasional table, video technology, a laptop and a banana box.

Special Guests:
Will include great writers and musicians from around the world at different dates. We're still working that out but expect to see Nick Holdstock from the London Review of Books, prize-winning poet Jane Griffiths, the amazing Artic Circle, Jonny Berliner, Mossy Rock and much much more!
