Around the world, there is a battle being waged against Shell's corporate destruction of the environment in the name of oil and gas: in the Niger Delta, in Canada's Tar Sands.....and right next door to us, in rural Ireland. For the past 10 years the people of Erris, Co Mayo have resisted Shells plans to bring an experimental, high pressure, raw gas pipeline through the village of Rossport, the surrounding countryside, and through the "protected" waters of Broadhaven and Sruwaddacon Bays. Faced with the might of the Irish Government and it's "Great Gas Giveaway", continuous vilification in the Irish press and criminalisation of the community by the Gardai and the Courts, the campaign to halt the pipeline continues.
Activists from Rossport Solidarity Camp will be screening an exciting new documentary about the campaign, and Singer/Songwriter Roxy Brennan will be providing live music in the bar afterwards.
