Vampires are hot at the moment but don't expect any of the usual clichés from firebrand director Park Chan-Wook. A Jesuit priest gets an emergency blood transfusion after offering himself as a martyr in a medical experiment. Before long he develops a blood craving and has developed superhuman strength. When he falls for a young married woman it's his moral strength that is tested and she lures him into greater and greater sins as he succumbs to her charms. With technical brilliance and a frantic pace, Thirst is a thoughtful take on flawed human morality as well as a gruesome and hysterical rollercoaster ride.
