Wes Anderson turns to stop motion animation in this adaptation of Roald Dahl’s heartwarming kids favourite, featuring the voices of George Clooney, Bill Murray, Meryl Streep and Jason Schwartzman.
The story sees Mr and Mrs Fox living an idyllic home life with their son Ash and visiting young nephew Kristofferson.
But after 12 years, Mr Fox's wild animal instincts re-surface and he slips back into his old ways as a chicken thief, endangering his beloved family and the whole animal community. Trapped underground and with not enough food, the animals band together to fight against the evil farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean, who are determined to capture the fantastic Mr Fox.
Mr Fox, voiced so appropriately by George Clooney, flits between human behaviour (buying a house, starting a career) and animal instincts (stealing chickens, attacking his food). The push and pull between the tame life and the wild one is the unifying theme. It’s all very transatlantic – the setting and
baddies are English; the animals are hip Americans. This is one crafty fox – in every sense.
