Sam Raimi's highly anticipated return to horror doesn't disappoint. Alison Lohman is the finance clerk who turns down a request for a loan from an old gypsy woman and is subsequently cursed by the spirit of an ancient demon. Evil Dead fans shouldn't pre-judge the film on it's 15 certificate. There are plenty of gross out moments and Raimi's skill gets old fashioned scares from what isn't seen. It's a rollercoaster ride, from the intense opening scene to the shocking finale, you'll squirm, shriek and laugh out loud.
