CAPILLARY ACTION

Capillary Action’s songs never sit still and do what you expect; they bend, stretch, fall apart and come back together, only to fall apart again. Composer/guitarist Jonathan Pfeffer has created dense, catchy, and deeply personal compositions that manage to occupy the no-man’s land between cinematic melodrama, grandiose big band composition, melodic guitar pop and taut jazz-metal. They somehow manage to be startlingly technical, willfully obscure and beautifully soulful at the same time. Think the Buddy Rich Big Band covering Deerhoof and Hella songs, with Morricone, Gershwin and Mike Patton fighting over the conductor’s baton.
Based in Philadelphia & New York, these guys have toured relentlessly, playing over 300 shows across the US, Canada, and Europe, alongside such names as the Chris Corsano, Yellow Swans, Joe Lally (Fugazi), Dos (Mike Watt and Kira Roessler), Daughters, Ruins, and 31Knots, among others. This time round they’re touring as an acoustic 5-piece, so expect multiple vocals, nylon-string guitar, upright bass, accordion, trombone, drums and all kinds of percussion.

AUCAN

Aucan (from Brescia, Italy) ply a dizzying concoction of barbaric guitar riffs, powerful drums and sparse keyboard melodies. A tangled web of angular grooves, timbres, textures and electronic sounds that form a dense wave, rich in frequency and tone. Picking up where 90's Chicagoan rock bands (Shellac, Don Caballero) left off, Aucan draw influence from a wide range of artists who marry the electronic with the organic - Fridge, Squarepusher, Tortoise and Battles.

BOZZ JATCH

Featuring current and ex members of So’eza, The Wailingest Cats and Zun Zun Egui, Bozz Jatch are an experimental swing trio. Rumbling double bass and intricate drums lay the foundations for complex guitar lines and smooth croons. Yielding a unique pop sound that marries diverse influences; from Django Reinhart and Charles Mingus through to the elaborate tapestries of Steve Reich and Tortoise.
