B-music: Lispector Plus Le B

-
Sat 24 May 2008 // 19:00

(Sat 24th/ 7pm early start! / £6 adv)

B-Music is an independent collective of DJs, musicians and music lovers dedicated to the obsessive and painstaking pursuance of obscure, obsolete, exquisitely obnoxious, unbelievable, underexposed and undeniably delectable discs of experimental pop music from the psyched out sixties and seventies.
Centred around the Mancunian eponymous travelling club and bar night - and along with twin record labels Finders Keepers and Delay 68, B-Music represents a passionate, un-blinkered approach to the culmination of way-out sounds encompassing all elements of of-kilter counter-culture: as well as cherry pickings of bugged-out cinema, design and literature in token doses.

This Saturday sees live music from France's Lispector, fresh from playing last month’s Ladyfest in Bordeaux. Tonight she will be sharing her multi-layered pop/lo-fi/electro/folk/rap/oriental/new wave melodies with the company of her sequencer and a floor tom. And you, of course.

DJs Doug Shipton, John Stapleton, and Huw Evans spinning Psych Prog Space rock Ye-Ye Euro Beat Folk Funk Jazz and whacked out Movie muzak in the bar.
Arrive early for a special screening of a secret psych cinema feature film!
