In the latest instalment of Romero’s legendary zombie series, the unfolding mayhem of a zombie outbreak is documented by a group of film students who observe the disintegration of their immediate surroundings in a way that is significantly different to the representations of the mainstream media.
Romero’s fresh and inventive approach to the use of first-person subjective camerawork – a horror sub-genre that is in danger of becoming stale and repetitive - proves that not only can an old dog be taught new tricks, he can re-invent the genre from the ground up and make it as incisive and cynically relevant as ever. Possibly the best Dead film to date!
