'The Perils of Gwendoline's a pretty convincing answer. Loosely adapted from fetish art legend John Willie's kinky comic strip 'Gwendoline', Just Jaeckin's 1984 sleaze epic was a flop upon release. To add insult to injury, in the grip of a moral panic, UK censors sliced the film to pieces, effectively emasculating this vintage slice of classic camp, and it gradually became an underground legend, commanding silly prices on VCR among collectors. To 21st century eyes, the most shocking thing about 'The Perils of Gwendoline' are the 80s fashions and dreadful dialogue, and the Hell With Hollywood is proud to present the uncut version of this lost classic of celluloid cheesecake.
