Join the Cube on a wild journey into the visionary imagination of Mexico’s legendary surrealist-alchemist filmmaker: Alejandro Jodorowsky. Using the medium of film as a method of spiritual induction and education, Jodorowsky created some of the most mind-bending and memorable images of the 1970s. In THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, a Christlike figure wanders through bizarre, grotesque scenarios filled with religious and sacrilegious imagery. He meets a mystical guide who introduces him to seven wealthy and powerful individuals, each representing a planet in the solar system. Influenced by absurdist drama, the theatre of cruelty, LSD and religion, this could well be Jodorowsky’s masterpiece.
In EL TOPO, see the naked young Franciscans whipped with cactus; see the bandit leader disemboweled; see the priest ride into the sunset with a midget and her newborn baby. What it all means isn't exactly clear, but you won't forget it.
