Venn is Norwegian for friend, and The Cube is Venn's.
Venn '07 goes astral. Pulling in acts of the very highest calibre from divergent musical constellations, this year's line-up is Venn's broadest yet. Maverick originators like Faust, J Spaceman and Einar Orn (Sugarcubes) mix it with young firestarters like Cooper Jones, Helena Gough and Islaja; there's rare
performances from key sonic protagonists like Vladislav Delay, Jack Rose and Stephen O'Malley. Plus, a range of carefully chosen artists perform two-set specials and a choice selection of Bristol including a now rare set by Morningstar, a special solo appearance from Pete Judge as Voe, SJ Esau, Fat Paul's Withered Man, Bellatrix, Freeze Puppy and Richard Carnage all figuring. Eyes peeled for a Stokes Croft art special, web-streaming events and vaudeville delights.
Through the Venn kaleidoscope no sound stays still: everything can be something else.

KTL (Stephen O' Malley and Pita) + Silver Pyre + Withered Man
(Thu 31st May / 8pm / £7 adv)
KTL are a near perfect union with epic proportions. Mixing the darkened guitar work of the Sunn 0))) lead man with the gothic ambience of the Editions Mego boss's digital soundscapes. Originally devised for a theatre piece, this is a "threatening new collaboration taking in the parallel worlds of extreme computer music and black metal", where skeletal sound-lines are located within sub-bass frequencies. Performed in suitably theatrical conditions, this is a grand and distinctly eerie musical drama. Unclassable and unmissable.
Silver Pyre is the sound of the deep and distant west, feral windswept drones and yearning melodics billowing from a remote barn on the Somerset coastline.
Withered Man is a vehicle to release a kind of grim suffocating, black noise, influenced by such masters of funeral black as Hate Forest and Striborg. Conceived by arch Bristol music legend Fat Paul (Swarfinger, Teenagers In Trouble, Espionage, Invada).
