The Light Fantastic presents AUGUSTO CORRIERI
Tonight sees the welcome return to the Microlex of Augusto Corrieri, presenting his acclaimed live solo performance 'Quartet (for Anna Akhmatova)', with original music score by Maw. Based on an accident that took place at La Scala opera house in Italy in 1913, Quartet is a playful exploration of the idea that theatre is not what takes place on the stage, but rather what happens in the minds of the spectators.
To complement this performance, TLF presents an especially curated programme of screen dance, exploring the 'theatre' of the everday: when does a conversation become a performance, when does a gesture become a dance, when does a space become a stage? As usual with TLF, expect the rough, the smooth, the thoughtful, the frivolous, the raw & the cooked.
TLF is about bringing together artists and audiences in an informal setting for discussing, inspiring, dreaming & scheming around dance - live & on screen - so get here from 7.30pm to socialise & sample the deights of the Cube's unique bar - show starts 8.15pm
Quartet is funded by Arts Council England. The Light Fantastic is an independent project, produced by Kyra Norman and supported by the Cube Microplex. Always interested in discussing collaborative programming possibilities:
