(Pavla Fleisher / UK / 65 mins / subtitles)
(Wed 24th / doors open at 7pm (film on at 7.30pm) / £10 adv)
What a night. Up close and personal at the Cube with Eugene Hütz, the
charismatic front man of gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello. With the Ukranian born singer/guitarist/dj/acttivist/writer at the helm, Gogol Bordello has become an underground phenomenon in New York with its blend of contrarian globalism and raucous, sweaty and recklessly vibrant sound.
This one kicks off early with a screening of new documentary 'The Pied Piper of Hützovina', which follows the singer as he travels across Eastern Europe to Siberia to meet his musical idol and major inspiration, Russian Roma legend Sasha Kolpakov. Following a Q&A with the film's director and its stars, Eugene will join the seven string guitar maestro live on stage in a crazed showdown between youthful punk irreverence and revered gypsy tradition.
Then head for the mosh pit at the Tube where the moustachioed maverick promises to tear the place up with his famous gypsy mash-up DJ set.
