We launch our 90s Queer Sleaze season with this coming-of-age classic, a painfully hilarious depiction of growing up queer in a shit town.

Fucking Åmål (released overseas as Show Me Love), tells the story of awkward small-town teenager Agnes and her crush on popular classmate Elin, which unexpectedly blossoms into real-life romance; it was quickly heralded as a new queer cinema touchstone and one of the most authentic portrayals of youthful relationships on film.

The film was an international arthouse success, and a veritable sensation in Sweden, reputedly selling more tickets than the previous year's Titanic. None other than Ingmar Bergman called it "a young master's first masterpiece", while a rising 19-year-old singer by the name of Robyn provided the closing credit music, making this an all-time Swedish cultural touchstone.

For anyone who grew up in the nineties, Fucking Åmål will take you back to a time when the fashion was questionable, the music indisputable, and the homophobia unavoidable - but when all of a sudden, all your queer dreams could come true.

Doors open 30 minutes before advertised start time. All film screenings are ad-free and 18+ unless otherwise stated, and start with no more than a 10 min selection of trailers.
