Winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes, It Was Just An Accident is a fearless tour-de-force from cinematic luminary Jafar Panahi (No Bears, Taxi)
Fifteen years after being arrested, imprisoned and officially banned from directing, Panahi continues to work in defiance of the Iranian state, collaborating with a brave cast and crew to make films under intense surveillance and personal risk. His latest is his most direct confrontation yet with the repressive forces shaping daily life in Iran.
The film follows Vahid, a mechanic who becomes convinced he has crossed paths with the intelligence officer who once tortured him. As he gathers others scarred by the same man’s cruelty, the line between justice and vengeance grows dangerously thin. What begins as a chance encounter unfolds into a tense, darkly humorous thriller charged with moral ambiguity and real political stakes.
Doors open 30 minutes before advertised start time. All film screenings are ad-free and 18+ unless otherwise stated, and start with no more than a 10 min selection of trailers.
