Where's Lloydo? Hanging out in the CUBE!

Bristol, get ready. Underground blu-ray label Refuse Films is tearing across the country with the Get Tromatized! Live With Lloyd Kaufman UK Tour, and the chaos is making its way to The Cube for a night of unfiltered cult cinema.

As part of this nationwide Tromatic takeover, Lloyd Kaufman, president of Troma Entertainment and creator of The Toxic Avenger, returns to the UK for the first time in five years and brings his anarchic independent filmmaking spirit straight to Bristol.

Refuse Films invites you to Tromatize your Sunday evening as Kaufman appears in person to introduce his cult classic Tromeo & Juliet (1996) and deliver a live talk before the film. After the screening, join him for a meet and greet signing at the Troma merchandise booth, where you can pick up exclusive fantoxic Tromabilia and get your Tromatic treasures signed by Lloyd Kaufman himself.

Body piercing, kinky sex, dismemberment. The things that made Shakespeare great!

Written by James Gunn, creator of Guardians Of The Galaxy and Superman, and directed by Lloyd Kaufman, Tromeo & Juliet is a feral punk rock reimagining of Shakespeare's tragic romance, celebrating its 30th anniversary. When Tromeo and Juliet fall for each other amid the violent feud between the Capulets and the Que family, their forbidden love unleashes a whirlwind of lust, gore and Tromatic insanity as they fight to escape their twisted world and claim a destiny even stranger than the original tale.

Totally Troma-rific!

Now celebrating its 50th year, Troma Entertainment is America's oldest independent film producer and distributor. It has been making exploitation movies since the 70s, with more cult horror classics under its belt than Freddie Krueger has kills. Its schlock-and-awe-splatterfest films are legendarily rough round the edges and feature all the blood, nudity and so-bad-it's-almost-good gonzo humour necessary to upset every minority and majority group. Run from New York by the tireless Lloyd Kaufman - a Yale alumnus, from the same year as GW Bush - Troma provides an outlet for many little labours of love/cries for help from no-budget film-makers. South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone got their first movie, Cannibal! The Musical, released by Troma; James Gunn (Guardians Of The Galaxy, Superman) began his career as a screenwriter with Tromeo & Juliet; and Kevin Costner got a break in the studio's Sizzle Beach, USA (Hot sand! Hot bodies! Hot Costner!). Its main flirtation with the mainstream came via the Toxic Avenger series, as gory and gross as anything else it produced. Unease is all part and parcel of the Troma experience; it's offensive and it's supposed to be – if there's a line to be crossed, then it will be joyfully skipped over.
