Our Czechtember season continues with this double-bill of darkly surreal tales from the heyday of the Czech New Wave.
In Joseph Kilian, a man attempts to return a cat to the shop he borrowed it from, only to find that it is no longer there. His attempts to return the cat draw him deeper and deeper into labyrinthine state bureaucracy, equally reminiscent of Kafka and Terry Gilliam.
Diamonds of the Night follows two teenage boys as they flee from a train taking them to a concentration camp. Boasting one of the most stunning tracking shots in cinema, director Jan Nemec skillfully blends handheld realism with Bunuelian surrealism, a film as visually stunning as it is unsettling.
Doors open 30 minutes before advertised start time. All film screenings are ad-free and 18+ unless otherwise stated, and start with no more than a 10 min selection of trailers.
The Cube is a membership venue, please remember to bring your card. You can join on the door for £1.
