AVAILABLE LIGHT DOUBLE: HANGING AT KENN & BRISTOL AT WAR
'Hanging at Kenn'. This is a programme made in a series called The
History Trail and tells of the historian Steve Poole's quest to
search for the reasons for the last public hanging at the scene of
the crime that ever took place in Britain. It happened at Kenn in N.
Somerset in the early 1830s. A bitter tail of the power of law and
order in pre-Victorian Britain.
The film will be followed by a question and answer session with Steve Poole, head of the Regional History Centre.
'Bristol at War', not in WW2 but Bristol in the Civil War. The
programme follows Prof. Ronald Hutton's quest to discover why the
second city in the country fell twice during the Civil War, first to
the Royalists and then to the Parliamentians.
