BABYCINEMA: These watch-with-baby screenings are for parents/ carers/ guardians with young babies (up to one year) to enjoy a movie in the company of other parents and their offspring. You'll be able to see the latest family-friendly blockbusters, foreign language films and classic favourites in a peaceful setting. Hopefully, your baby will fall asleep so you can relax. But if you're not so lucky and your little one's making a noise, everyone in the cinema is a parent or carer, so no one else is going to mind.
Samsara: an extraordinary, multi-sensory and meditative drama, depicting the spiritual journey of an old woman's soul to reincarnation as a goat.
In Laos, a young Buddhist visits an elderly woman close to death and reads to her from the Tibetan Book Of The Dead as she prepares for her next journey, her soul traveling to rebirth as a baby goat on a beach of Zanzibar, where groups of women farm seaweed. This luminous rumination on death and reincarnation includes an immersive 15-minute interlude where audiences are asked to shut their eyes and take in the colour pulsed at them. ★★★★☆ The Guardian
Content warning: references to death, brief bloody images.
Please note: this screening contains scenes with flashing and flickering images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
The Cube provides a dedicated area for prams, baby changing facilities, lowered/ softer film volume, ever-so-slightly brighter lights in the auditorium, and free movement around the auditorium. Our bar/ cafe sells yummy homemade cakes and a wide range of beverages and soft drinks at reasonable prices.
