sound affairs presents MOULIN ROUGE
(Wed 1st Dec/8pm/£5)

A classic of early silent cinema with a new musical score by Charlie Barber performed live.

Described as "Britain's first Superfilm", E A Dupont’s 1928 classic of early cinema has a far from British sensibility. Featuring Russian actress, Olga Chekhova, the elaborate sets and rich shadowy lighting recall the contemporary German cinema.

Influenced by the boisterous rhythms of Parisian cabaret and contemporary urban culture, Charlie Barber’s music injects fresh energy and passion into the classic story of an eternal love triangle, set in the world of entertainment.
Four musicians will perform Charlie Barber’s new musical score live: Thoby Davis (violin), Steven Moss (bass clarinet), Matt West (percussion) and turntablist DJ Jaffa.
