Noods Levels launches TREAD - a new event series focused around music production. Cultivating the next wave of producers with expert production classes from incredible talent.

We're thrilled to be hosting some of the UK's most exciting music producers, who will be sharing their career journeys and giving us vital insight into how they created their iconic sound. With six events to choose from, you'll have plenty of opportunities to learn from the best and get inspired to produce your own amazing music. And don't forget, each talk will be followed by a Q&A session, giving you the chance to pick the brains of these incredible artists and take your craft to the next level.

TREAD is proud to host the first masterclass of 2024 with the sonic pioneer, Ploy.

Sam Smith, aka Ploy, is Bristol's very own techno prodigy. His hypnotic experimental beats are a testament to his mastery of polyrhythmic drums, trippy effects, and classic Bristol sub-bass. Hailing from the West Country, Ploy's passion for music was ignited by his turntables and extensive record collection of hip hop, grime, and dubstep, resulting in densely textured tracks infused with dance music scenes from around the globe.

Ploy has established himself as one of the most innovative artists in the UK underground with a string of successful releases on renowned British dance labels like Timedance and Hessle Audio. He has now founded his own label and club night, Deaf Test, dedicated to curation and sound within his own vision.

Ploy’s craft of club-centric sounds that combine techno with percussive diversions, have created a long line of top-notch EP’s and albums, each track having a completely organic sound. From his music technology degree to sold-out shows in London, Ploy's expertise is undeniable. We are excited to have the opportunity to pick his brain at Tread.

This masterclass is hosted by Bristol based DJ and freelance journalist, Annie Parker.
