Drowsy is Mauri Haikenen,a young singer/songwriter from Finland signed to Fat Cat (Animal Collective, Vashti Bunyan, Vetiver). His voice is wise and weathered beyond its years, shifting from a soft, in-your-ear burr to a low rasp. Though recalling the melancholic vision of Smog or the post-psychedelic haze inhabited by the likes of Syd Barrett, Alex Chilton or Robert Wyatt, his music is wide-eyed, fresh and above all human, - by turns upbeat, downered, laden with ennui, yearning and frequently permeated by a surreal (dark) humour.
Two special supports tonight as Emily Breeze strips down and goes acoustic; plus a special appearance from This Is The Kit - kate stable's band tonight featuring Jesse Morningstar. Kate has been getting busy in Paris doing lots of home recordings and there's rumours of releases on Sunday Best...
