Back by popular demand and fresh from shows in New York, Rich Hardisty brings his new work in progress to The Cube. In his intimate debut hour “SILLY BOY”, Rich takes us on a journey through the highs and lows of his unusual life.

“SILLY BOY” is a comedy show grappling with what mental illness really looks and feels like. But you won’t find any self-pity or loathing here…this is a celebration of the beauty and silliness of it all and the interesting, hilarious, and sometimes shocking things his brain is capable of doing (whether he wants it to or not). Expect anecdotes and observations about mental institutions, missing dads, anorexia, heroin use and mania, all from his warm, inquisitive, childlike perspective.

Following the performance, Rich will join a panel discussion with Marina O’Brien, Romany Murray (UWE Bristol), and Miltos Hadjiosif (UWE Bristol) to create a holding space for reflections on the show and its themes.

About the artist:

Rich is a writer as well as a performer and has performed in shows for C4, BBC and Netflix, and has developed 2 sitcoms with channel 4. The tour promoter Mick Perrin Worldwide (Simon Amstell, Trevor Noah, Eddie Izzard, Bo Burnham) saw the show and signed him up on the spot! “SILLY BOY” is going to the Edinburgh Fringe festival in August 2022 where Rich will be debuting.
