We are very pleased to have the welcome return of Kavus Torabi (The Utopia Strong,Gong, Cardiacs, Knifeworld, Guapo, The Monsoon Bassoon) to The Cube. Tonight's set will feature, amongst others, specially selected cuts from the album released in 2020, Hip To The Jag. Described by The Quietus as " an album full of delight, and a fine contribution to the transcendent, the psychedelic and the glorious", Kavus uses layers of Indian harmonium drone and shifting electronics to create rich atmospheres. These atmospheres are layered with melody from Kavus's uplifting, almost ethereal vocals providing a heavenly destination for your minds voyage. This evening Kavus will be performing an intimate solo set with his harmonium and electric guitar.
Joining us tonight we have Michael Woodman (Thumpermonkey), who is touring with Kavus in support of his first foray into the solo world with the brand new EP Psithurism. Heavily influenced by 70's prog, 80's Scott Walker and weird fiction, it fuses these elements into an almost post-rock sound, it's an EP rich in sound. Mixing heavy riffs, clattering electronics, delicate falsetto and layers of saxophone, it will be a delight to hear this transformed into a solo offering.
