“As the world burns, millennials descend on Crestone to grow weed, spit bars, and fill their bellies with bologna.” - Tag Line
A hybrid film that floats onto your screens (via Cube's very own Vacuum) as a unique little escape portal, a hazy fictitious study and a crazy bump and ride. 'Crestone' peeks into the often hidden aspects of collaboration and friendship as well as the human desire to persist against all odds (in a post-societal existence) all set in the stunning desert town in Colorado, USA.
This 2021 film was directed by Marnie Ellen Hertzler and it's a blast. Animal Collective do the emotional trippy original soundtrack and was shot in 8 days.
In a world that keeps up the yo-yo between fact and fiction, digital and physical, a group of SoundCloud rappers eek out survival, utopias and the spirit in matter among Crestone’s endless sand dunes, waterfalls, and dark caves. The rappers tattooed bodies, their cosplay wardrobes and the clouds of weed smoke are collaged into a dazzling tale of mesmeric qualities, comic asides and, actually, lots of gumption .
To Sloppy and his crew – Ryan, Hakeem, Baby Boy, Huckleberry and Ben - what does music sound like if there is no one left to repost and share it? Find out, come to 'Crestone'.
“A short attention span extravaganza for the post-future generation.”- Cosmo Bjorkenheim, Screen Slate
“Security is largely a superstition. It does not exist in nature” - Big Sen on MIRAGE by Quelle Chris & Chris Keys
