Bluescreen will be back May 27th! https://cubecinema.com/id/10996/

Welcome to the 2nd Bluescreen of 2020! -

Now in its 19th year, Bluescreen is The Cube's and Bristol's longest running Short Film Night and YOUR Open Screen night for local film makers to bring in and screen their short films.

So expect another evening of a very eclectic mix of locally produced Short Films.

Any film genre is welcomed – the more eclectic mix of films we get the better we like it!

We are a 2 hours total screening duration event and with one film per one filmmaker. This is to allow all films to be screened at a reasonable hour and also give the opportunity to the audience to stay and watch them to the end too.
SO WHAT WE ARE BASICALLY SAYING IS, IF YOU GOT A FILM, GET DOWN EARLY!

FB event Page is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/648620205916892/

Films can be up to 20mins long and must be on Memory Stick (formatted for VLC Player) or DVD (formatted for a DVD Player). No Hard Drives please.

USB  - Digital Film Files should be clearly marked with your name, film title and our name - BLUESCREEN, so it can be quickly found by our projectionist.

DVD - Should be playable in a DVD Player (ie. not data files) and bring a backup disk if you can.

To get the best screening experience at Bluescreen, we suggest your film should be formatted in H264 (.mp4) video compression, with AAC compression for audio. And limit the data rate to 15,000 kbits/sec and films should be no larger than 5GB per file.

If you've not got a film, come along and support/meet other film makers and/or get inspired to make a film yourself and its a great way to get involved in Bristol's film making community.

PLUS we have Bluescreen Hi-Fi DJing in the Bar, Cube Orchestra film re-scores and, if time, some classic shorts from the Bluescreen Archives. Films on screen after 8.00.

Bluescreen - Promoting & Supporting local Filmmakers & their Films for the last 19 years

Dearest Cube Members,

With the escalation of the coronavirus situation, The Cube has decided to close it’s doors to the public starting from Sunday 15th March for an initial period of two weeks.

We have a duty of care to our volunteers, members and our wider community. This is not a decision that has been taken by us lightly. As an autonomous venue, we are lucky to have the ability to make a decision with the health of our community at heart.

We want to be able to be focused on those that need us and those we lean on as well as ourselves and our environment. We are aware that people rely on the cube and we will continue to be supportive of each other.

We understand how disappointing it is that events/screenings will have to be postponed or cancelled. But we believe that the benefit of the culture does not outweigh the risk of spreading this infection. As the situation evolves we will have a clearer idea about what will be cancelled and what can be postponed.

All tickets will be refunded for the first 2 weeks, and we have suspended sales for April for the time being. We will try to reschedule everything. We will keep you updated as the situation evolves.

We all love the cube and want to continue to provide the community and collaboration it gives us. It is a chance for us to come together and come up with new and creative ways to do what we do - we are thinking more radio, film streamings rather than screenings, submission projects, collaborative projects online, digital discussion groups, streamed live events. This will be under the banner of The Cube On Ice, watch this space!

Keep on washing your hands and looking after each other.

Love and solidarity,
The Cube
