Matt Davis has been active in improvised music since the mid 90’s, playing throughout Europe and Japan in many different collaborations and small and large group ensembles including Zeitkratzer and La Sospechosa dance company. From 2003-2008 he directed ‘Field’ - a live art performance project, which investigated notions of space and collaborated with geographer Doreen Massey, author of For Space.

His sound/music work continues to include acoustic improvisation (trumpet and preparations) along side an electromagnetic set up: performance based improvisations that use custom-built cracked electrical devices, often with a visual element, to create electromagnetic fields that are rendered into sound, drawing on the immediate situation/space of the performance. These elements are explored as spatial and material phenomena and for their dubious potential as organic and/or feral musical elements.

Luigi Marino is a musician based in Bristol. His work focuses on networks able to display relationships between human and nonhuman actors, and especially on how intuitive decisions can derail a pre-existing order.

He is an active improvisor performing on both electronic media and percussion, in particular zarb and bowed custom cymbals extended with DIY portable circuits. He performed worldwide in venues such as the Cube, he also played in a place that he thought was almost as cool as the Cube, and in another one that was kind of like the Cube but with less cool people.

A flautist frequently found in various improvising permutations, Tina Hitchens is also a composer and sound artist, playing and writing in a variety of musical groups and working with artists from other disciplines. She is interested in the peripheries of sound, how we experience ourselves with others in sound, and in deep listening. Tina currently appears with Viridian Ensemble, Harpoon, and South West Improvisers Group, plus others.

Jo Kelly is a stalwart of the Bristol free jazz and improv scene, performing solo as Yungylek and collaboratively in various constellations, including the free-noise-no-wave-improv-harsh-jazz quartet Yoke. They are also known for their moniker Wendy Miasma, a political-synth-pop-power-house.

Oliver Brouwer is a composer, improviser, singer and pianist based in Bristol. Over the last seven years he has written and recorded five collections of solo piano works. With each shared, an ever changing expression and response to a personal experience of memory and time, stillness and movement.

He is particularly inspired by the creative spark of improvisation, which touches both his set pieces and his expansive and uninhibited improvisations. His performances are touched by a vulnerability and tension through his skill in recreating every piece every time he plays it.
