SPRING, SUMMER, AUTUMN, WINTER AND... SPRING
(Kim Ki-Duk / South Korea/Germany / 2003 / 103 mins / 35mm / cert 15) (Mon 4th- Tues 5th @ 9pm/ Wed 6th-Thurs 7th @ 7pm / £4/3/2ttt)

Kim distills sublime images of the natural world, aided by his conceit of the changing seasons. We see a young boy evolve to manhood under the
tutorage of a buddhist monk until eventually the cycle returns and the boy becomes master, dedicating his life to his spiritual teachings. The seasons are like chapters in which the boy "untypically" meets and falls in love with a girl who comes to the lake as a form of treatment for her illness.
The film is just beautiful! It gives rise to a host of emotions, applying universal lessons without pushing the buddhism.
