MINOR THREAT: DC SPACE. BUFF HALL. 930 CLUB
At The Heavy Heads Disco
(Tues 16th / 8.00 / £1)

From the ashes of TEEN IDLES. Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson, along with Brian Baker and Lyle Preslar, set out to create their own version of Punk Rock. MINOR THREAT from Washington DC clocked in some of the most stripped down pure 'harDCore' punk songs of all time. They influenced a whole generation of punks and are responsible for the introduction of the 'Straight Edge' philosophy, a life of abstinence from drugs, alcohol and tobacco. MacKaye and Nelson also set the blueprint for truly independent record labels with Dischord Records. All brought to you with the simple idea of well recorded music, offered cheap to the public and avoiding major labels, distribution and contracts. www.dischord.com

This DVD shows the band at three separate gigs between 1980-83, the Buff Hall footage surely being the highlight. Blisteringly tight, bodies flying and with an energy level off the scale this footage shows why the band are still hugely popular and held in such high regard almost 25 year later. You are unlikely to see such an intense and passionate live performance in the raw flesh like this in your life. 3 gigs & interview in 92 minutes.

PLUS the the Heavy Heads and guests playing records in the bar.
