In this beautiful classic the power of love can be a terrifying and dangerous affair... Oliver Reed (Kent Smith) meets and marries the Serbian Irena Dubrovna Reed (Simone Simon). Irena is afraid of an ancient curse against the women of her town that a woman touched by a man will transform into a panther. Believing this, and the couple does not consummate their marriage. Irena is sent for treatment with the psychiatrist Dr. Louis Judd (Tom Conway) while Oliver looks for "consolation" with his colleague Alice Moore (Jane Randolph).
