We held the Occupy Cube: Remember David Graeber event on Sunday October 11 from 7pm in The Cube garden, until it got too cold - when we went inside to the auditorium. There were six of us assembled in the end: Kevin, Chiz, Pete, Alfie, Stelios and Hannah in the order of arrival. Everyone got a free ‘No Bullshit’ drink from the bar and then we started to talk about David’s work, the impact of his ideas and zest for life on our lives and on the world.

Chiz took a photo of the rest of us: from left to right – Stelios, Pete, Kevin, Hannah (well hidden by the ribboned tree!), and Alfie. We had obviously offended the ancestral spirits in some way, as most of us were transformed into flying heads or had our bodies merged into the garden’s vegetation.

Pete had to leave early, but the rest of us continued to chat on and each person wrote down a sentence for David which I will share with you below:

David, you have not left us. You are in our hearts and in our souls. David, you are not forgotten – your work continues to inspire us to rise up and to question the systems in which we live. David has set me on an invaluable path and will not be forgotten. David, you will live on through your work. You seem to have touched all that came here tonight – we talked in earnest and in jest about your life and what it altered.

It was decided by consensus that all money made from this event will be donated to Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê (Kurdish Red Moon).

A big thanks to everyone who made this event possible.
