Wed 20 June 2018 // 20:00

Tickets: £6 / £4

Publication launch, Film Screening, talks & discussion hosted by Screenworks, the Digital Cultures Research Centre at UWE Bristol and The Centre for Media Research at Bath Spa University.

This event will act as a showcase and launch of a special issue of Screenworks. The selected moving image works consider the connections between digital technologies and the environment exploring their networks, materialities, infrastructures and relation to new forms of waste.

Screened works include Adam Fish's and Bradley L. Garrett’s film Points of Presence which employs a range of visual strategies to map the materiality of the internet. Another work The Trembling Giant by Patrick Tarrant inserts a 16mm projector rattle in front of a digital camera that films the Utah landscape intersecting with a sense of geological time and interacting with 'lenses, focal planes, optics and perception'.

The launch event at Cube will include the screening of a selection of the works, a performance lecture, filmmaker talks and a panel discussion which will provide some further context.
