Hi there,

My name is Emily Jones, and I am very keen to take on a volunteer role at the Cube. I have been to various events at the cube over the past few years due to my passion for independent cinema, music and the arts in general and would love to play a role in the future of the space, alongside other likeminded individuals. I am particularly drawn to working at the cube because of its co-operative, and not for profit nature and how this opens up many different facets of the arts to those who may have previously felt excluded by them, as I have done in the past. I also really like the anti big- business ethos, and would like to further expand my knowledge in this area, particularly in how we can continue to subvert the influences of big industry. Since moving to Bristol a few years ago I have been very taken by the strong sense of creative community in the city, through venues such as the cube among others, and the co-operative aspect appeals to me greatly, being someone that enjoys collaborating with others and meeting new people, particularly in a role that also allows me to further explore my creative interests. Taking on a role at the cube also particularly appeals to me because of the focus on documentary film-making in areas such as environmentalism and ... in the screenings and talks it puts on. I am currently in my final year at the University of Bristol studying Liberal Arts, and when I leave I really hope to further pursue a career in the arts world particularly in either film or music, with a focus on how to move these industries forward in a sustainable manner, and the cube is a space that brings these two fields together in an interesting and creative way and I would love to become involved in this endeavour. I am available most week nights particularly earlier on in the week, and can volunteer on a flexible or set basis, depending on what you need!
