April 2004
'William Morris Is Dead' is a visual critique of the death of British
socialism and of visual arts being stripped of all contents other than
aesthetics. It brings together the handmade (in manipulation of digital
images & installation) and the industrial ( in innovative use of
materials).
Fiona Symes was born in Exeter, Devon in 1966. After attending art college
from 1996 to 2000, she worked on a number of artists' projects, such as
Year Zero and The King Mob Collective as an experimental film maker;
experiences that lead her to vow to never make art again. She produced The
Endless Landscape mail art book in 2000.
