Fri 20 April 2007 // 21:00
Celebrated British film director Ken Loach will be introducing two showings of his 2001 film ‘The Navigators’. Loach has been making films with strong political and social themes since his 1969 debut ‘Kes’. ‘The Navigators’ focuses on a small group of railway workers in South Yorkshire. It is a powerful examination of the effects of privatisation on their jobs and lives, as cost cutting and redundancies hit hard. Ken Loach will also be speaking about the film and the issues surrounding it.
He is supporting this event as a fundraiser for anti-war and anti-privatisation party Bristol Respect – the Unity Coalition.
